I began taking pictures of the world around me since I can remember. As a student in college- study which eventually led to a BA in English and a teaching degree-the art classes I took opened my eyes to the possibilities of exploring the negative spaces in our field of vision. Through my study of Zen Buddism, I also began to appreciate the concept of the Yin and the Yang: the dark and the light, the negative and the positive. My approach to capturing images is to incorporate these ideas. In my compositions, I find interest in the shapes, lines, curves and spaces around and through that which we can assimilate with our eyes.
